Starting Out

Willing to Share

Last month marked my entry into the world of investment and the ASX…Had I known what the markets had in store, I might have reconsidered my options.

Having said that, I’ll be honest…I find myself excited and eager to watch the numbers, see the graphs and witness some outrageous moments.
To recap, I mentioned last weekend that I was taking some good advice and doing nothing…that meant nothing in my portfolio and literally nothing as I went on a short vacation (I highly recommend a town by the beach).

We then witnessed America make history in a way no one expected, during which the markets reached extreme volatility!
I then opened my account and saw green green green (Except Blackham Resources which is still lagging behind).

I felt this was the moment we had been waiting for as Gold leapt up high…I felt confident thinking that I had timed it all so well…except…Gold did not continue to rise.
Gold was above $1330 and right now it sits under $1260.  Oh dear.
The share prices reflect this, and of course my account moved 12% negatively.

I have commented on this before, how I think about the missed opportunity and I kick myself, “if only I had sold out before the drop”, “I could have picked my position up again with a 12% gain”, except I’m reminded hind sight is 20/20 and during the heat of the moment I thought Gold was rallying.

“…if only I had sold out before the drop.”

So I’m humbled again, as I patiently wait for the right moment, when the world will turn to Gold, in need of a safe haven.

I will admit that I was swept up in the election fever and the volatility in the market only added fuel to the fire.  I’m calmer now and level headed once again as I remind myself of the goals and objectives I set at the start.
